Face Lift

I'm ready for light colors and springtime so I changed my background color to white.

It's crisp and clean and uncomplicated.

There's no profound message today, no witticisms, nothing deep to ponder.

Just a pretty tree on a stark white background.

Simplicity.

Perfection.

Just breathe.

Welcome, Judy! I visited your blog but my computer decided to freeze and I couldn't comment. I'll try again later - I REALLY loved your photos and your stories of your childhood, German friends and parents and friends. And that wooden boat - swoon! I'll be back - promise! Debi

Frances - This is a dogwood tree located in the Huntsville Botanical Garden with a fascinating story. When Huntsville decided to widen a main road in 1995 this ancient dogwood tree was in the yard of an old homestead right smack dab in the path of progress. The community banded together and raised funds to save the tree. It's ancient - well over 110 years old, best estimate. When they moved it the root ball was 18 feet in diameter and weighed 83,000 lbs. It has a place of honor in the Garden. My husband and I were married just on the other side of it in a gazebo.

(I didn't memorize all that - I took a photo of the sign at the time so I would have the data!)

This tree is huge. I'll post some more photos of it if you'd like.

Thanks for visiting! xo - Debi

That is a beautiful tree and I'm glad you gave us it's history. I didn't know about it, even though I used to live in the Huntsville area.

Dark type on white looks good. Very easy to read.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful tree! Interesting history as well! With this warm rain we are having here in North Alabama- the flowers and grass will be popping out in full force. I noticed the Coral Buckeye plants are blooming now. I like the new look of your blog!

Greetings, all........

Daniel - The tree is cool, and I hope you get to see it in it's full glory....which will be VERY soon, if not already. I love my buckeyes! They're just about to burst - this weekend may be IT!

Randy - Thanks for stopping by and taking a gander at this grand, old tree.

Nature Girl - I can't wait to see your Saguaro bloom photos, gal. Man, you are in my version of Heaven. Arizona's desert in springtime (or anytime, frankly) is stunning! Keep me posted.

Carol My Dearest Friend - Nature Girl is in your neck of the woods ... or close by anyway. You ladies should share Nature Stories!

Sherry - Glad you enjoyed the tree, babe. It's quite special. This was the first time ever that I'd caught it perfectly. Always, I was too early or too late to capture it perfectly. Those times're rare when you live an hour away from a gem like that!

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments on the simplicity of being.

Hey Debi
I like what you've done with the place! ;0)

I remember that wonderful photo. What a great visual to represent the fresh, virginal start to spring. We've finally landed ourselves some warm spring weather - 14C today (mid-50sF) so I guess it's out to clean up Guinness' and Jack's winter 'deposits' at the Bank of Poop today. Oh joy!

perfect -- as you might have guessed, I love a nice clean white background on blogs. It allows the words and the photos to speak. Gorgeous tree you posted. Gorgeous.
