Self Explanatory

Don't laugh at a youth for his affectations; he is only trying on one face after another to find a face of his own. ~Logan Pearsall Smith, "Age and Death," Afterthoughts, 1931
Adolescence is perhaps nature's way of preparing parents to welcome the empty nest. ~Karen Savage and Patricia Adams, The Good Stepmother
Mother Nature is providential. She gives us twelve years to develop a love for our children before turning them into teenagers. ~William Galvin
The best substitute for experience is being sixteen. ~Raymond Duncan
Violet will be a good color for hair at just about the same time that brunette becomes a good color for flowers. ~Fran Lebowitz
There's nothing wrong with the younger generation that becoming taxpayers won't cure. ~Dan Bennett
When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. ~Mark Twain, "Old Times on the Mississippi" Atlantic Monthly, 1874
I've been told that the average child's brain doesn't fully mature until they reach the age of 25. Let's hope that she and I both live to see that milestone.

Hi Debi: Hey, I know just what you're getting at here;) My daughter is now 20 and in college. Boy, it was scary sometimes when she was a teen. It STILL is scary. I worry about her every day. We get along better than before because she is away at college more than she's home:) Kids grow up...and it's so hard to let them go!!! Jan PS You will survive though!!

Thanks, Jan. There are days I wonder if we will survive, but kind, wise, "been there," folks like yourself assure me we all will!

Hey Debi,

Always remember that grandchildren are our reward for not killing our teenagers. Having come out the other end and patiently waiting for my reward (get to it kid, I'm not getting any younger) I'm here to give you hope that this too will pass... slowly...painfully...like a kidney stone...

LOL...been through it 3 times so far and have survived. Now the first three teens were boys, we'll see if I survive sweet girl's teenage years!

It is God's trick to make you fall head over heels in love with your newborn baby so you won't turn around and kill it when it is a teenager...me

I have wonderful kids most of the time, (they are 16 and 21), but just today I was telling my husband, I'm so tired of kids! I think we all have days like that when there are older kids in the house! I just remembered, I had days like that when they were little too.

Hang in there!

So true, we are always trying on new masks or personalities to wear in an ever changing world. We are all actors playing out roles. One question is, who do we want to be today without getting locked into the part for life.
