In the Moment

Have you ever been so focused on a moment in time - an event, a project, your art, writing, traveling - that you don't see something obvious? Sometimes I find myself so obsessed with logistics that I forget to enjoy the trip. Or, details of a project overwhelm me long before I get to that point. Or, losing myself in the sheer pleasure of photographing a subject matter and don't see the speed limit sign. At such times I should obey the Universe's speed limit and slow down. Step away, breathe, think, take a long walk in nature, go visit a dear friend, call a family member - remember what Life is really all about. It's all too fleeting as it is.

Funny Debi. There must be a happy medium. I'm the one doing all these things and I never focus!! There has to be a place in the middle so everything works out just right!
Take a breather...but not too long of one. It's getting close to the time for our fall walk. Let's make a plan!

It is always a good idea to slow down and enjoy the moment. Thanks for the reminder.

I have the same problem - I'm always trying to get a perfect shot of something, get video taken etc, so that I sometimes forget to just enjoy myself. :) It is definately a good idea to get out from behind the camera sometimes and join in the fun.

Universal Speed Limit. :)
Pretty cool.

I think we like to go fast sometimes because we found out that tasks were boring when we were doing the same one's over and over again. So we began tuning out the process to get the task that we were enslaved to doing done with.

However, ironically, by slowing down to pay attention to each movement of the task, one unzips the static attachment away from the body and the mind. Liberation is achieved by embracing the moment beyond the physical. Because one can also become attached to every detail, becoming neurotic to detail. But to feel what eminates below the surface of the perceived loop or object creates a sense of aliveness and freedom.

You're absolutely right, Debi. We get so caught up in our to-do lists we forget about slowing down to do something we love, like reading (and commenting on) friends' blogs. I'm so glad I landed here this morning.

To be in the moment frozen in time is a good thing..so much to focus on during this change in season!
