The Lake

"A lake is the landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature. The fluviatile trees next the shore are the slender eyelashes which fringe it, and the wooded hills and cliffs around are its overhanging brows." Henry David Thoreau

I love living on water. The sights and smells and noises have become part of me. This place has given me inspiration, unleashed creativity and catapulted me out of myself, revealing the spiritual well within my soul. I cannot imagine another place that fits me better than here, on the water, surrounded by nature.

Beautiful picture Debi. Your description makes me wish for a house by a lake. It is good to hear you are feeling so well.

Now I am just irritated that your photos in the last few post have been so fantastic. It feels that you are moving downa differant road with your writing style. I am really loving this.

What a lovely quote you've chosen. For me, it's the ocean, Atlantic or Pacific. Whenever I travel home to the coast, my visit is not complete until I've smelled the delicious aroma of the salty Atlantic and heard the serenade of foghorns in the distance. Then and only then I know I've come home.

Another water baby.

That is a beautiful photo! And I think you are so lucky to live on a lake...and in north Alabama. Such a pretty place!

Thank you all again for your kind words! Patti, as much as I love the lake any and all northeastern beaches call to me with their foghorns and tremendous tides and wildness. Give me a place with dynamic waters and wildlife and I'm home, too.
